Resident Evil 4 could come under this, game was such a burden that the imagine had to be stretched for the gamecube release, it wasn't until the wii that we got a console version of the game that wasn't using a stretched image or hit on the graphics. Speed runners have figured out methods to make the vehicles go 3 times faster than they were ever intended to, how the frame rate never takes a hit from this I dunno but the game certainly struggles to load the level when this happens.Īlso Pokemon Stadium 2 for having the most detailed graphics of any N64 game, the graphics were so good that when Pokemon Colosseum was released on gamecube the Pokemon from gens 1 and 2 were touched up versions of the N64 models. There isn't anything about this that screams "how is this possible" but it still an impressive feat looking at all the workarounds the devs used.į-Zero GX. It's also a very good looking game on top of that too. The N64 has memory limitations but they still got a fully voiced script and a handful of other impressive sound tricks on there which I'd imagine ate up a fair bit of memory. They had to use a few work around's to get the game working like lowering the resolution and then stretching the image to fill the screen. Conkers Bad Fur Day on N64 was pretty much the most hardware pushing game by Rare on the 64 that didn't use any assistance from the expansion pack (like perfect dark).
